Scripture Union Europe

Actual Prayer items

New European Regional Director Appointment Process: Applications for the position of the new European Regional Director should be received by mid-October at the latest. The Appointment Group will meet from 29 – 30 November for interviews with the short-listed candidates. The appointment Group will then meet with the European Board on 1 December to conduct the final interviews and decide who should be appointed for this important ministry.

Austria: Pray for our Schools work: The network of student prayer groups is ever increasing. We have taken up the challenge to support these school kids to have the courage to meet in their schools to pray. We hope that students will be encouraged at a large Prayer Congress from 2-3 October. Staff worker Stefan Hüttenmeyer needs our prayer for this strategic ministry.

Finland: Pray for the SUbiNor conference (Nordic and Baltic countries´ subregional conference) that will take place in Bergvik, Finland the 7th to 10th of October - that God would give us blessed and fruitful days together.

Greece: Please pray for the huge economic crisis in our country. There has been a 50% reduction of gifts for Hellenic Scripture Union and our economic situation is serious and we have to reduce our expenditures. Pray this crisis to be a spiritual blessing for our churches.

Sweden: Olof Brandt, SU Sweden’s new national leader, started work on 15 September. Please pray that the transition will go smoothly. This will include moving office, changing broadband, telephones, and other things that can go wrong! This is the time we have peak orders so it is imperative that systems and routines are operable as soon as possible. Pray too for a good start with the committee. What complicates matters is that Olof has been finishing off work commitments to his previous place of work.

Lithuania: In the absence of any staff at present, please pray for Arturas Rulinkas who chairs the Lithuanian board, for each board member and for the faithful volunteers they have. Pray for courage and encouragement when they plan next year's camp activities.

Norway: Thank God for all that Grete Martinsen achieved as editor of Alfa, our notes for children. Pray for her in her new employment with another Christian organisation. Jorunn Elise Djupvik, who in addition to working as our inspirer for Bible engagement, has taken over Grete’s editorial role. Please remember Jorunn Elise in her important ministry.

Germany: At the Moment we are developing the TV series "The Three Friends" for pre-school and primary school children. Three soft toys (a lamb, a donkey and a pig) tell Bible stories with great humour and creativity. Two 5 minute pilot episodes about Bartimaeus and Zacchaeus will be broadcast by a Christian station Evangeliums-Rundfunk) this autumn. Please pray that through these evening bedtime stories many children will be reached with the gospel.
